Decor essentials for spring

Five Home Decor Essentials for Spring

As the end of February approaches, Spring is just around the corner, and being home decorators, this is our favorite time of year. Every season brings new home projects, but there is just something about changing up your decor in the Spring that is so refreshing. To help inspire you, we’ve picked out five items that are perfect for a Spring makeover.

Cotton bed sheet thread count

Thread Count: How Important Is It?

Today, bedding options are endless. Whether a traditional brick and mortar operation or online store, they will likely have a wide variety of sheets in different materials, weaves, and quality levels. When it comes to buying sheets, thread count is often overvalued, but what does it actually mean and is it really the most important characteristic to look at? Thread count is determined by the number of threads per square inch of fabric, including both the horizontal and the vertical threads. Generally, a thread count between 200 and 800 is good, and the higher the number the softer the sheets will be. There is a lot more to a sheet than its thread count though, both in terms of quality and the feeling of the fabric.

Window treatments for older homes

Window Treatments for Older Homes & Odd-sized Windows

When buying window treatments, the first step is always to measure the windows in your home. Some have it lucky, and have standard-sized windows throughout their home, or at least windows of the same size in each room. For many, this is not the case. Older homes present a number of challenges when it comes to fitting or sizing window treatments, but we are here to help.

Decorative pillows

Decorative Pillows: A Home Decor Essential

When it comes to home decor, decorative pillows are your best friend. Whether you are decorating a new home or simply want to refresh your current look, pillows are one of the easiest and least expensive ways to elevate your space. They are great for living or family rooms, as well as bedrooms. In addition to adding style, throw pillows provide back support on couches and chairs, and extra comfort when curling up in bed to read a book or watch a movie.

Top down bottom up shades

Top Down Bottom Up Shades

Top down bottom up shades can be freely moved up or down to cover or expose any portion of a window. There are a few different mechanisms on the market, but the most popular is cordless and is moved up or down by tabs on the bottom and top of the shade. These new designs allow for an increased level of control over light, insulation, and privacy. The shade can be positioned to cover the bottom half of the window to allow for privacy while still letting light in. In the evening the same shade can be moved to cover the top half of the window to block the blinding rays of the setting sun without obstructing the whole window. Top down bottom up shades are quickly becoming one of the most popular styles of window treatments.

Curtain heading styles

Curtain Heading Styles

The heading style of a curtain describes the way it is sewn at the top, where the curtain meets the curtain rod. It is important to consider heading style when choosing curtains or drapes for your home. Heading style will affect the overall look of your window treatments, as well as the type of curtain rod used and the way the rod is mounted. Our most popular headings styles include: grommet top, pole top, tab top, and pinch pleated. This article will help explain each of these styles and the type of curtain rods that can be used with them.Â
